Amanda Wright is originally from Racine, WI. She completed her undergraduate studies at the small, private, all women’s college of Saint Mary of the Woods in Terre Haute, IN. Dr. Wright studied at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine where she fell in love with full spectrum Family Medicine. Her desire to include inpatient and outpatient medicine as well as obstetrics into her practice led her to train at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP). Upon completing her Family Medicine Residency in Peoria, she joined a practice through Methodist (now UnityPoint Health) where she established a brand new practice focused on women’s health, OMT, procedures, and full spectrum family medicine for the entire family. Dr. Wright has also made international medicine a regular part of her practice. Last year she completed her Diploma in Clinical Tropical Medicine and Traveler’s Health from West Virginia University. Dr. Wright has always found academic medicine an exciting part of her practice; Dr. Wright worked as the Osteopathic Family Medicine Program Director at UICOMP as well as the Director of Student Education in Peoria through the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Serving as the Department Chair for Family Medicine and the Director of International Medicine is an ideal way to blend her clinical and academic interests- she is excited for the year to start!
